Those of you who follow my blog, know I lovingly refer to my almost 2 year old as “The Destroyer”. He’s into EVERYTHING you could possibly imagine (and more!) and he LOVES to keep me up at night. So we decided he needed to go in the big boy bed and maybe, just maybe, that would fix all of his sleep issues.

First night he falls asleep swimmingly (isn’t that word awesome?!?!) without a ba-ba, which was another goal of ours. . .don’t judge. We are jumping up and down with excitement. But alas, 2:30 am comes much too quickly and he’s up and at ’em with a VENGEANCE. Hysterical wailing. So instead of bringing him into our bed like usual. . .don’t judge, and after repeatedly attempting to lay him down and him not having any part of that, I sit lovingly (HA!) at his door. He flops down like a fish and after a looooooooooooooooooong 45 minutes, falls back into a sleep slumber. SWEEEEEEEEET!

I’ll try and shorten the story. The second night he wails at bedtime, wakes up twice in the night and makes me sit by his door for over an hour. Good times people, good times. I’m EXHAUSTED and kind of a not-so-nice person in the daytime (aka monster mom/wife). I was scared for what the third night would bring. BUT alas ladies and gentlemen, the destroyer (never one to be predictable), goes to sleep without a peep and sleeps allllllllllllllllll through the night. I woke up after 7.5 hours of sleep bouncing from the walls and singing “The Hills are alive with the sound of sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeping”. Yea, I don’t get me either.

I leave you with an image of my angel snuggled up like a bug in a rug with his favorite blankie and in his new big boy bed. Let’s hope tonight was as good as the last!
