the destroyer in a big boy bed
Those of you who follow my blog, know I lovingly refer to my almost 2 year old as “The Destroyer”. He’s into EVERYTHING you could possibly imagine (and more!) and he LOVES to keep me up at night. So we decided he needed to go in the big boy bed and maybe, just maybe, that would fix all of his sleep issues.
First night he falls asleep swimmingly (isn’t that word awesome?!?!) without a ba-ba, which was another goal of ours. . .don’t judge. We are jumping up and down with excitement. But alas, 2:30 am comes much too quickly and he’s up and at ’em with a VENGEANCE. Hysterical wailing. So instead of bringing him into our bed like usual. . .don’t judge, and after repeatedly attempting to lay him down and him not having any part of that, I sit lovingly (HA!) at his door. He flops down like a fish and after a looooooooooooooooooong 45 minutes, falls back into a sleep slumber. SWEEEEEEEEET!
I’ll try and shorten the story. The second night he wails at bedtime, wakes up twice in the night and makes me sit by his door for over an hour. Good times people, good times. I’m EXHAUSTED and kind of a not-so-nice person in the daytime (aka monster mom/wife). I was scared for what the third night would bring. BUT alas ladies and gentlemen, the destroyer (never one to be predictable), goes to sleep without a peep and sleeps allllllllllllllllll through the night. I woke up after 7.5 hours of sleep bouncing from the walls and singing “The Hills are alive with the sound of sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeping”. Yea, I don’t get me either.
I leave you with an image of my angel snuggled up like a bug in a rug with his favorite blankie and in his new big boy bed. Let’s hope tonight was as good as the last!
P.S. This is not my 2/52 week picture. . .I have another one in mind for later this week!
xoxo
Kristin

I’m so glad I’m not the only one with an almost 2 year old who has “sleep issues”. Ha! Mason still doesn’t sleep thru the night, he’s up at least once usually around 2am and ends up in our bed. I’m tired. So very very tired. The Destroyer is so cute all snuggled up in his big boy bed. I pink puffy heart him!

Love your posts! You crack me up! I do not judge because I have two little boys climbing in my bed every night and either me or my husband end up on the couch *sigh*!!!

don’t hate and I won’t judge…the twins slept throught the night TWICE in a week! I hope it lasts because my first kiddo didn’t sleep through the night until he was 2 and a half…I REMEMBER those loooooong nights, too! I am praying that the girls keep on keeping on with the sleep! :-):-)

Just sat at Caleb’s door while he fell asleep last night, after he woke up, after he fell asleep perfectly as well. Then I had to sit in his room at 5:30 for an hour till morningtime. Hey, it’s better than having them stuck to us, eh?

Hi Kristin, Love your blog and your photography! I found you through Rebecca Ligtenberg’s post :-). She’s a life-long friend of mine!!! I have a nearly 3 year old with sleep issues. I am the last one to judge and pretty sure I am the root of all of his bad sleeping habits. I’m right there with ya and almost to the point of not needing to rock him for an hour to get him to go to sleep at night! Thanks for the great blog and I look forward to following you! Sara

Hi Sara! Nice to “meet” you! Love your blog too! 🙂 Sleep issues are hard huh? So far so good here! Cayson’s been waking up once in the night, but he’s doing so much better each night.
