Can I just say first how happy I am that I had the opportunity to take these?? Meet my amazing grandparent’s. They are the who made my family into what we are today. Not only did the immigrate here from Holland during the war with NOTHING at all, they worked SO HARD their entire lives to give their family a GOOD life. They are our religious backbone, they showed us what it means to have a deep and meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. Without them, we would not be who we are today.

They are amazing and kind and generous and beautiful and funny and gracious and giving and loving and and and. . . .I could go on forever. One of the greatest things about my grandma that I remember is that she didn’t judge me. She is so strong in her convictions and she will tell you how she feels, but she won’t judge you. She let’s you be YOU. I remember showing her my belly-button ring when I was a teenager. And she laughed and said, “Maybe I should get one of those too!” Same thing when I got my nose pierced. She said something to the effect of, “Well I’m not sure I get it, but I’m not worried because you are a good girl”.

My grandpa has this quiet strength about him. He loves my grandma so much and it is so apparent to all who are around them. He treats her like a queen and I’ve seen nothing but his utmost love and respect for her all my life. They are the epitome of a God-fearing, loving marriage. My grandpa is one of the hardest working men I’ve ever met and it kills me to watch him not be able to do the things he used to do. I know it kills him too. But he doesn’t complain and always has something positive to say.

They are the rock of this family and I am so grateful to have grandparent’s like them.

My grandpa called this his “Sunday face”. 🙂

xoxo,

Kristin
