Being a San Diego Couples Photographer means I get to do the coolest sessions! This surprise engagement session was one of them and was so much fun. Grant and Sarah live in Michigan and flew out to California to visit family. Grant contacted me after being referred by someone I know (love referrals!) and we connected and started planning his big surprise for Sarah! After getting a glimpse of his vision, I started researching the best beach spots in San Diego County for their surprise engagement portraits. He wanted a cliff overlooking the ocean for the surprise and some sand for their celebratory photos afterwards. I was able to find the perfect spot for them in Carlsbad, California with the help of another photographer friend (thanks Marissa!). The tide was going to be high that evening so we had to make sure and find a beach that would have some sand available. You’ll see below we found the perfect spot!

Magic happened in the sky during this sunset surprise engagement! The colors and clouds were so amazing and made the perfect backdrop for their dreamy couples portraits. This beautiful, young couple also made some magic happen in front of the lens and I was able to capture some pure love and connection with these two. As a San Diego Couples Photographer, I can only dream of the perfect sunset and couple to photograph, and this was it! Enjoy this peek of Grant and Sarah’s engagement photography session with me!
