As you may have noticed (or not noticed hee hee), I have not been blogging much. I made a decision last year to give up a job that I had been doing online for quite a long time. There were many reasons for doing this and at the time I was so stressed about the decision. Looking back, I really see how God was involved in that decision from the get-go. I saw that everything does happen for a reason even when you don’t understand it at the time, and now I feel like the last 6 months has given me my sanity back. I used to spend so much time on the computer that I felt this weird pull to it. Granted, I was working and making money by being on it, but I felt like my life had become sucked into that computer screen. My kids hated it, my husband hated it, and I was starting to hate the person I was becoming being consumed by being stuck in front of that computer screen all of the time. I just felt super anxious and stressed and it was not good for me at all. I thought just because I had a great opportunity in front of me that I needed to take it. I now realize how much happier I am and how much happier my family is that I am “present”. I still am running my photography business and staying busy with that, which I feel SO incredibly blessed by. The month of January was filled with the most amazing clients who truly made me realize how lucky I am to have this business. But I’ve really taken a step back from the online/social networking/computer world. I know I need to blog my sessions once in awhile as it’s always good to get my fresh work out there for clients to see. But I’m finding a great balance and I’ve been able to really get involved more in my kids’ school/activities. I have an almost 4-year-old that I’ve been able to hang out with A LOT more instead of ignore for hours a day. God really has taught me a lot about what matters this past year. Many events, some tragic, have taken place that have showed me how important it is to be present in my life and to really cultivate my relationships with my kids, my husband, and my friends. Overall, 2012 has already been an amazing year just a little over one month into it and I look forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings. Sappy. . .yes? But I had to share it.

Happy Monday everyone!! Christmas is almost here already and I have not started shopping yet. . .I also have not done my Christmas cards yet. So I’m a little behind in this situation, but I’m sure it will all come together at the end, right??? Cross your fingers for me!

You may recognize this beautiful family from prior years on my blog. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing them a few times now and it’s been awesome to watch their family grow and to be able to photograph their adorable kiddos. I really fell in love with so many images from their session so I had a hard time narrowing down the ones I wanted to show.I have a lot of beautiful families to show off, so I’ll hopefully get a chance to do that this week or next!

I mentioned in an earlier blog post that I’ve been photographing this family since Caroline (the older munchkin) was born. I have had so much fun watching her grow and now watching her little sister Maddy grow. It’s a lot of fun to be a part of documenting a family’s life and I feel so, so honored that they have MY pictures of their family adorning their walls. They really all are so beautiful, inside and out, and I look forward to capturing them again here in a few months for Christmas pictures!!

It’s been a busy month over here! We went on an 8 day trip to Maui and sessions have been in full force since I’ve gotten home. I’ve met so many amazing and beautiful people in the last month. Here are some recent pics from the sessions I haven’t had a chance to blog yet along with a couple from Hawaii!!!!

 

 

These two are cousins and were so fun and hilarious. I have many more to share from their family shoot out on this gorgeous property!

 

These are cousins from a 16 family member session I did recently! This group of kids (a couple aren’t pictured as they are running behind this crew) were also SO much fun and we captured some really great moments.

 

This is Kalli at around 2 weeks old. . . isn’t she gorgeous?? She is the daughter of one of my best friends from back in high school!

 

Little Nicholas was an adorable 2 week old little man!!!! Loved his sweet, red lips!

 

These next two beautiful girlies are from one of my favorite client families.   I’ve been photographing them since little Caroline (below) was a newborn!

 

This little beauty came with her two bigger brothers to my studio for her 3 month portraits. . .we even managed some sleeping ones of her!

 

Aren’t they breathtaking?  Love this image of 8 year old big brother and his 2 week old sister.

 

I’m missing a few sessions that were this past week, but I hope to show some of those soon!!!

So, first of all, I haven’t fallen of the planet. . .yet, anyway.I have been busy with sessions, but more importantly I have been busy with summer fun and my family. Last summer I was so insanely busy that after spending most of it glued to the computer, I swore up and down I wouldn’t do that to my kids again. This summer has been awesome so far and it’s been so.much.fun to just be mom for much of it and take the kids here, there, and everywhere. We’ve been to Legoland, the beach, the park, the County Fair, multiple ice cream shops, tent camping and inner-tubing on a little river, and more! Next week we leave for Hawaii and I am just over the moon that we can take our kids there this summer. I can’t wait to show them the warm, beautiful blue water in Maui and just relax and have fun.

I’ve still been doing sessions and having a ton of fun with the families I’ve gotten to hang out with this past month and hope to share all of those sessions soon. I am SO incredibly blessed by the people I get to “work” with and they really make my job incredible. Here is one huge share of a recent beach session for an extended family over on Coronado Beach. They were all awesome to be around and we got some great images of their family together!

I talked about my un-project here in case you are wondering what I’m referring to! I took the kids to the beach last week and decided to get some fun shots of them while they played. We had a great time and the weather was beautiful! This week we took the kids to the snow. . .that’s Southern California for you! I remember going snowboarding up in the mountains as a teenager and then skiing out on the lake later that afternoon. Ah the joys of living in San Diego! Especially when you can say you’re at the beach enjoying the sun in your Facebook status and know there are a million people up to their ears in snow wanting to reach through the screen and choke you.I’m such a giver.

Remember these three cuties??? I’m finally sharing some more from their session!!

Get ready for cuteness overload. These sisters were SO sweet to each other and I could tell they had the most amazing friendship and love for each other already. I had such a great time playing with them!

And big brother was not a fan of pics, but I managed to crack him a few time.

Bray turned five yesterday, I can’t believe how fast time flies!!! He’s such a good boy (most of the time) and I cannot imagine life without him. We are celebrating his birthday pretty much all week. . .lucky little dude!!!

Yes, I missed last week.Boooo. Oh well, I’m still truckin along!

Ok, so I am not sharing only one this week obviously. I found some beautiful flowers close to home and decided to try and get some shots of my kids in them before they die off (the flowers, not the kids). It takes A LOT of energy to take pictures of all three of them together. Mostly because of the little one. . .he’s not a fan of staying in one spot unless it’s on his own terms. But we had fun and I’m loving a lot of the ones I got of them. I hope one day they enjoy these pictures. . .not sure they will being that there will be 5 million of them, haha!

I had the opportunity to take some of my grandparents in these same flowers the next day and I hope to share some of those with you soon too. My grandpa just turned 90 last week and they have been married for over 60 years. They are a huge, huge inspiration to me!

This one makes me giggle.

And just to show you one of the many, many shots like this I got. It is usually takes a small miracle to get them all looking my way.

Somehow his nickname has become Boo or Boodawg over the years. Even his aunts and uncles call him Boo.  We also call him Bray-Bray and that has kind of stuck with our family and friends too.   He looks like a Boo to me and it makes me think of how sweet and generally kind-hearted he is.  This expression is totally him too.  He was deep in thought when I called his name and this face is just SO him!  He’s a lady killer and has lady killer hair to prove it.  I can always hear the girls at school calling “BYE BRAYDEN! BYE BRAYDEN!” when I come to pick him up. I have a feeling I’m going to be one of those mom’s who has a bazillion girls calling to talk to him one day.
