I’m a bit behind on this week’s project and it’s not groundbreaking to say the least. But I did it! I do have a good excuse I think in that my eyes have been giving me a lot of trouble this past couple of weeks. I think it’s dry eye syndrome but they’ve been super sensitive to light, incredibly red, and everything has been a bit blurry. It sure doesn’t make being on the computer fun! Anyhow, the theme for our 26 Week Photography Project this week was “A Day in my Life”. The one thing that stays pretty consistent in my life (besides Starbucks lol), is doing Crossfit with my girlfriends. I’ve been doing Crossfit for years and didn’t really start enjoying it until this past year. My husband got me started on it and he’s been an excellent instructor for all of us. Not sure what changed to make me start enjoying this crazy workout! I am so thankful for my workout buddies and how far we’ve all come.

Below you’ll find ONE example of hundreds of different types of workouts we do each week. We rarely repeat the same workout and they always kick our butts! And yes, our friend “H” super kicked our butts on that workout!!!!

Our circle was a bit slow to complete this time around, but I do believe the talented Jessica Drossin will be posting today!

Yes, I know. . .I’ve missed a couple of weeks! I’m a terrible photography project person.  But I’m back on it!!  The theme for our 26 Week Photography Project this week was “Takes My Breath Away”.  It was a gorgeous cloudy day here in So Cal and a yellow field of flowers was calling my name.  I only took 2 of my kids with me this time and got some amazing pictures of them having so much fun together. It’s funny how taking one kid out of the equation really settles things down around here.  My oldest and youngest get along really well for the most part and they have the sweetest love for each other.One of the captures below from our little outing really did take my breath away. I am definitely printing this one and treasuring it forever!!

I’ll try and share some more from our little session together. . .however, you know how that goes with me!!

The theme for our 26 Week Photography Project this week was “Self-Portrait”. I had a bit of an insane week and just did not get a chance to take a pic of my self, soooooo I’m going WAY back into the archives to share two that I still just love to this day. The sad thing is that I don’t have the full-sized images because back in 2008, I had a terrible computer crash where I lost an entire year of pictures, including my son’s first year of life.Luckily, I have a ton of web-sized images and even if I can’t print them out, I can still have the memories. I took these next two images while I was doing a challenge on Flickr every Wednesday called “Bokeh Wednesday”. I hope you get a laugh out of them as much as my old Flickr friends and I did!

This first one was titled “Pregnancy Craving”. . . I think you’ll see why.

This next one was to show how a stay at home mommy spends her time during the day. Or really maybe just how some people think we spend our days.

As photographers, we are always looking for ways to challenge ourselves. This year I am taking on an exciting new challenge, a 26 week project. It is similar to the 52 week project most of you are familiar with, except this year we are working on techniques along with our themes. Now if you know me at all personally or just from reading my blog, you’ll know I’m terrible at following through with projects. Once I heard this one was only twice a month, I thought it would be attainable. I have to say, even though I didn’t continue my 2011 project all year long, I still have a ton of pictures that I am so thankful I took as a result of it!

Our themes for our 26 week project will be more thought provoking, so it will be fun to see the different interpretations. I am working along with 11 other AMAZING photographers (who will hold me accountable) from the Bloom Forum (see below this post about it!). When I say amazing, I don’t just say that lightly. . .they really are all so talented. These ladies will be challenging me as the year goes on and I am really looking forward to pushing myself to think outside of the box. Each month we will have a different technique we are working on, and each week we will have a new theme.

For the month of January, our technique is unique lighting and our theme is “view from up here”. After you see my picture, be sure to continue clicking through the different photographers links so you can see the complete circle. Don’t forget to come back in 2 weeks to see our next theme, you don’t want to miss it!

Here is a view of the amazingly gorgeous island of St. Lucia. I was went there a couple of months ago with a group of friends and took this as we were leaving the island. I’ll normally try and take a new photo for the project, but this image popped right in my head when I saw the theme “view from up here”. It fit the theme much to perfectly not to use it!

This past week has been insanity! Beach session for a beautiful lady’s 90th birthday with her family, preschool pictures for about 70 kids, and I have two family beach sessions in the next two days. I’m living on an IV filled with coffee so if you see me walking on the ceiling, you’ll know why.

This week’s pic is of my boys.Little C needs a haircut so bad, but he FREAKS out at the sight of the scissors and razor. He doesn’t have the same wavy hair as Bray, his hair kind of sticks up straight! LOL. Anyone have a straitjacket I can borrow?

Today we had the Dutch Festival at the school where my mom went, I went, and now my kids go to. My grandparent’s helped start the school many, many years ago and have been an integral part in it’s growth over the years. Madyson even has the same first grade teacher I had. . .she is one of the BEST teachers out there hands down.

One of the great traditions of the school is the Dutch Festival. It is a day filled with Klompen dancing, stroopwafels, oliebollen, and many more yummy Dutch treats. My dad is the auctioneer for the Live Auction and has done that every Festival as long as I can remember. There is also a ton of great games for the kids and over the years, the games have become pretty darn cool! My grandparent’s even get dressed up in their Dutch attire complete with Klompen shoes and sit on the stage in their pretend Dutch house!It’s a great way to remember where I came from and it makes me remember the sacrifices my grandparent’s made to give us the life we have now. We are truly blessed and I am proud to be a part of that heritage!

I missed two whole weeks! Yikes! Well, my excuse is that we moved and things have been a little insane. You all forgive me, don’t you? This week isn’t anything spectacular, but it does show you the face of the boy that I refer to you all lovingly as the destroyer.  As you can see, what comes with destroyer territory is a messed up face.  Just this week, the destroyer has eaten a whole entire pack of gum, pulled a chair to the toaster and stuck a knife in it trying to get a bagel out,  pulled his diaper off after doing his business. . .that was fun times, and I won’t even go into all of the things spilled or ruined by him.   Notice the bruise on his cheek and the owies on his eye, lip, and cheek. . .not to mention the scar from where he had stitches from falling on a branch.  He’s an active little dude and he will certainly have the scars someday to prove it! Luckily, he still manages to win us over with his cheeky grin, dimples, and snuggly bug demeanor.  Just look at that face. . .how can one get mad at him with a smile like that?!?!?!?

Somehow his nickname has become Boo or Boodawg over the years. Even his aunts and uncles call him Boo.  We also call him Bray-Bray and that has kind of stuck with our family and friends too.   He looks like a Boo to me and it makes me think of how sweet and generally kind-hearted he is.  This expression is totally him too.  He was deep in thought when I called his name and this face is just SO him!  He’s a lady killer and has lady killer hair to prove it.  I can always hear the girls at school calling “BYE BRAYDEN! BYE BRAYDEN!” when I come to pick him up. I have a feeling I’m going to be one of those mom’s who has a bazillion girls calling to talk to him one day.

Happy 2nd birthday to my baby boy!!! I took him to Starbucks this morning since it was just the two of us. I got him a cupcake and some chocolate milk. . .and wouldn’t you know, he doesn’t want to take a nap today. I wonder why???? Since it’s his birthday week, he gets all of the attention on my blog. Stay tuned for a gorgeous 4 week old boy on Monday!

Don’t cha think? The destroyer has been at it again. In ONE day this past week, he managed to:

1. squeeze out an entire tube of toothpaste and smear it in the carpet
2. destroy a tube of lipstick and smear that all over himself, his blankie, and my purse
3. climb on the counter and open the Nestle Quik and scoop it out all over himself and the counter
4. break a bathroom drawer from climbing on it

That was just Wednesday. So it’s a little ironic because he looks so sweet, serene, and innocent (innocent being the operative word) in his sleep. But he does snuggle well and he kills me with his grin, so I’ll let him off the hook for all of his mischievous deeds.

I couldn’t pick just one this week, so I’m putting three up of little C taking a nap yesterday.
