Happy Monday everyone!! Christmas is almost here already and I have not started shopping yet. . .I also have not done my Christmas cards yet. So I’m a little behind in this situation, but I’m sure it will all come together at the end, right??? Cross your fingers for me!

You may recognize this beautiful family from prior years on my blog. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing them a few times now and it’s been awesome to watch their family grow and to be able to photograph their adorable kiddos. I really fell in love with so many images from their session so I had a hard time narrowing down the ones I wanted to show.I have a lot of beautiful families to show off, so I’ll hopefully get a chance to do that this week or next!

Let me introduce my cousin to you. . .her family is just one of those families you look at and think, “WOWZA, that is one beautiful group of human beings.” One might even be a little jealous looking at them because I mean seriously, how much prettier can you get? We had allll kinds of people stopping on the beach just to take a look at them. And you know what the BEST thing is about my cousin? She is SO down to earth and silly. Her and I are kindred spirits and always have been growing up. She makes me laugh and we have allllll kinds of crazy fun together. Their family moved away a few years ago and we sure miss them terribly. I am so lucky to have such a fun extended family. . .it makes life so much more exciting and laughter is always abundant when we are together. Yes, I put a lot of pictures of her dancing (she was modeling how to dance on the beach for her girls), but they make me giggle and I just wish I could have been dancing on the beach with her.

Meeting Xaiden took me back to that time when my kids turned around 7 months old, became mobile, and didn’t turn back for nothin’. Little Xaiden was a crawling machine and was a ball full of energy and smiles. I think I may have lost a few pounds after taking his pictures from trying to keep up with him, but boy was it fun and completely worth it. The pictures I got are some of my fav baby images and of course, that cute smile and adorable face helps!

Thank you sooooo much H family for driving so far to have Xaiden’s pictures done!! I cannot wait to do some outdoor pictures when he turns one and see how much he’s grown!

First of all, here I thought I would be a better blogger this year and I’m already failing! :/ I so wish I was better at this, but life with three crazy kids tends to get in the way sometimes and right now they are my main focus, so I won’t make myself feel too guilty.

Second of all, I have been waiting to blog this great family for a couple of weeks and am finally getting a chance. I have watched Miss Sophie grow up the last two years and it has been so fun. She has grown from a teeny tiny newborn to an active adorable 2 year old in what seems like no time at all. For being two, she sure was an easy subject and full of adorable smiles as you’ll get a chance to see!!

Thank you S family for choosing me to capture you all this last couple of years! It’s been so fun to watch Sophie grow!!!

This gorgeous family is from Dallas and I couldn’t wait to meet them! Jennifer’s (mom) main goal was an artsy, fun family portrait. Yay!!! They were a blast to photograph and we had a lot of laughs. I even managed to break the teenager, Mitchell, from his teenager-ism (made up word) for awhile. He taught me some new lingo and we gave each other knuckles. . .I’m so cool it kills me. HAHA! Blaire, his sweet, loving, beautiful sister was so fun and full of energy and life. The only bummer was the weather, it was super gloomy and overcast. But I think it turned out just fine.

Seriously, how gorgeous are they!??!?

This one makes me giggle.

This was their equivalent to a jumping shot. . .love it!!! They are a sporty family so this fits.

More gorgeous clients I just HAVE to show off! Meet Theresa and Allison, so incredibly beautiful and sweet! I had a blast with them and they left me hoping to do a session like this with my little girl someday soon. Another huge share, I don’t always get the time to show so many!

Large groups always make me a bit nervous. Especially when there are 5 kids under the age of 5. And even more so when the night before the session, the beach is FREEZING and super windy. I drank about a pot of coffee so I could have super energy and headed over to meet the J family who were vacationing in Del Mar together. Once I walked in and saw them all, I knew I was in for an awesome session because not only are they ALL drop-dead gorgeous, but you could just tell right away that they were kick-back, fun, and my kind of family. The kids were so well-behaved and laughed at all of my crazy antics. What more could a girl ask for?!?

I wish I could share more because I have so, so many great ones, but this month has been insane and I’m so behind!!! Stay tuned for some super adorable preschoolers appearing on my blog soon!

Ok seriously, how freaking cute are all of they? Like little magazine models!

I really am quite funny, can you tell? The only one who wasn’t amused was the baby. LOL

I have to give credit for this “pose” to my good friend Desiree when she did my extended family pics last year. Such a fun shot!

So WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in December (seems like forever ago already), I took a short trip to Florida to visit a friend. I met her in a very unconventional way on a Ebay seller’s forum about 4 years ago. We became really close and we finally had the chance to meet. Let me just tell you that my weirdness and spastic nature have been unmatched in my lifetime. . .until I met Angela. She is a freak of nature and we are two peas in a pod. I nicknamed her Gateer and she calls me Nacle (as do many others). When I went to visit her, I also met one of her neighbors. She asked me, “So, how do you spell your name?” I said, “K-r-i-s-t-i-n”. She in turn replied, “Wait, I thought your name was Nacle”. I laughed so hard, I cried. Who in their right mind would name their poor child Nacle? Apparently, Angela calls me that all.the.time to her friends/family, so they just assumed that was my real name. Even her kid’s call me Nacle.

While out there, we had a blast shopping, eating, shopping, drinking coffee’s, shopping, eating, and drinking more coffee. I also was able to take some pictures of her and her four beautiful children. I am looking forward to another trip out to Orlando sometime this year!

She’s here! I took Katy and Tim’s pregnancy pics last month and now their sweet baby girl has joined the ranks. She is precious, super sweet, and I can tell she has her mommy and daddy wrapped around her little finger already. Just a few to share tonight. . .I am so behind this week on blogging. You are what you wear.

A little cliché? Perhaps. But when it comes to portrait photography, clothing plays a huge role in the success of the finished product.

Before we get going – let’s be clear what you’re clothing does NOT need to be:

1. Brand New
I’m down with your favorite ripped jeans, retro band T’s, and worn converse shoes – as long as you know how to rock them in your own fabulous style.
2. Fancy-Schmancy and Uber-Expensive
Unless it’s your thing (If it’s really your thing, then by all means baby, bring on the bling). If you’re not normally a dress-up kind of person, don’t feel like you have to be one for your session.
3. Matching
No need to focus on matching everything from the color of your fuchsia headbands to the stripes in your socks. In fact, I beg of you, please, please don’t. If you’re heart is set on everyone in white button downs and khaki pants, I’m probably not your girl.
4. Stressful
No need to worry about each and every item, or fret about the suitability of each accessory. This is supposed to be fun. If you’re unsure – call me, and together, we’ll make sure you look fabulous. I promise.

I want you to be happy, thrilled, over the moon about your images, and I know that this is much more likely if we take the time and work together to help you choose clothing that fits these few simple rules:

Feels Good.
During your shoot you could be sitting in a pile on the grass having a tickle battle, rolling down a hill with your fiancé, throwing your kiddos in the air or climbing a tree. Wear clothing that lets you do all that (and more) comfortably.

As for the kids? Well…uncomfortable kids have a tendency to look…uncomfortable, and are often cranky to boot. Happy kids make for happy pictures.

Bottom Line: Don’t choose outfits that make any of you feel constrained, stiff, itchy, scratchy, like you’re dressed up for Halloween, or that leave you with a nagging worry that a button might pop if you bend the wrong way. Trust me.

Looks Good.
This can be tricky, looking good is totally subjective – right? If you’re not a Carrie Bradshaw fashionista in real life, you might want to pull in some extra help from a straight-talking friend or your trusty photographer (that would be me) who knows about such things and has plans in place to help.

Sometimes last year’s of-the-moment dress has already become hopelessly untrendy. Sometimes the current fashions just don’t look or feel like you. Sometimes outfits that look good in the mirror might not be ideally suited for photography. If you’re really looking for extra help, I can put you in touch with some incredible folks who make people look good for a living.

Bottom Line: If you don’t feel fabulous-fierce-take-on-the-world gorgeous in your outfit, you’re not going to love, love, love the end result – and I’m all about you love, love, loving the end result.

Makes Sense.
Here’s where we pull it all together. It’s not just enough that everyone look good and feel good – you’ve gotta look and feel good together AND the outfits should fit with your location and the desired mood for your portraits.

Glup. That seems like a lot, doesn’t it? (quick – revisit #4 in the top list, and remember, don’t stress).

Before you even begin figuring out your wardrobe, we’ll have an in depth consultation to narrow down what you really want for your pictures, choose the perfect location and make sure you have an understanding about how that all comes together in the finished photograph. I’m with you every step of the way.

Bottom Line: It’s easier than it seems.Think twice about having Emma in a lace prom dress if you can’t get Tommy out of his spider man cape and favorite Star Wars pajama top. If we’re going to be running around in a park, you’ll likely not decide to wear your starched Sunday best. Hate the way stripes and plaids look together but Dad has his favorite stripped polo ready to go? Best steer mom away from her beloved family tartan. Easy-Peasy. [unless Mom is really attached to that tartan, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it).

If you’re still not certain, and you can’t decide between the yellow wrap dress with your red heels or your dark skinny jeans and purple belted shirt – I’ve got good news. You don’t have to decide. Bring lots of options. Heck – throw your whole wardrobe into the back of the car. When we get to the session we’ll wing it all with fabulous results. Trust me.

Now take a deep breath. Close your eyes. Imagine how blow-everyone-away-fabulous-ready-for-America’s-Next-Top-Model you’re all going to look in those pictures….

Can you see it yet? I totally can. You look INCREDIBLE!
