san diego beach family photographer | overcoming obstacles

This GORGEOUS family came all the way from Washington to have their pictures taken on sunny San Diego’s beach with me. Only there was a problem. . .the sun was not to be seen this certain weekend. In fact, we were having a TON of rain.

Allison decided we would go ahead with the session since they traveled so far and she had put SO much thought and care into the whole thing. When we got to the beach it was COLD, but the rain stopped for us and there was even some breaks in the clouds. Her kids were AMAZINGLY good and so sweet and funny. I fell head over heels in love with all of them.

Unfortunately, we stumbled up one more big obstacle about 15 minutes into our session. While I was taking pictures of the two boys, Miss C decided to take a HUGE dip into the ocean from head to toe. Luckily, the people they were staying with lived super close and brought us a spare change of clothes for her. She never cried ONCE and was such a trooper, blue lips and all!!!! We even managed to get a ton more great shots and finish out the session. :)

Without further adieu!

san diego family photographer | long overdue

So WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in December (seems like forever ago already), I took a short trip to Florida to visit a friend. I met her in a very unconventional way on a Ebay seller’s forum about 4 years ago. We became really close and we finally had the chance to meet. Let me just tell you that my weirdness and spastic nature have been unmatched in my lifetime. . .until I met Angela. She is a freak of nature and we are two peas in a pod. I nicknamed her Gateer and she calls me Nacle (as do many others). When I went to visit her, I also met one of her neighbors. She asked me, “So, how do you spell your name?” I said, “K-r-i-s-t-i-n”. She in turn replied, “Wait, I thought your name was Nacle”. I laughed so hard, I cried. Who in their right mind would name their poor child Nacle? Apparently, Angela calls me that all.the.time to her friends/family, so they just assumed that was my real name. Even her kid’s call me Nacle.

While out there, we had a blast shopping, eating, shopping, drinking coffee’s, shopping, eating, and drinking more coffee. I also was able to take some pictures of her and her four beautiful children. I am looking forward to another trip out to Orlando sometime this year! ;)

san diego baby photographer | smiley babies rock!

Little Sophie is one year old already! You may remember her from earlier posts when she was just a wee newborn and then an adorable 6 month old. I think I only had a few shots where she wasn’t smiling from this session. I love seeing my newborn client’s grow!!!

merry christmas!

What a crazy, whirlwind of a year! But I feel so blessed at what has happened this year and cannot wait to see what next year brings. We had a Christmas Eve church service tonight and reflected on the reason we are celebrating this wonderful time of year. As I closed my eyes and listened to one of the songs that was played, I couldn’t help but feel emotion well up inside at the magnitude of what Christmas is really all about and how it has impacted my life. So Merry Christmas internet friends. . .I hope it is filled with family, joy, and good food! xoxo.

I leave you with some of the images from our Christmas card this year. Big thank you and smooches to my friend Carey who allowed me to use her furniture props!!!!!

la jolla beach family photographer | growing like a weed

I am super behind on blogging due to the holiday bustle, but I wanted to post a few from a recent session. Stay tuned for more from other sessions later this week!

Remember this doll baby?? Nolan is already 6 months old and SOOOOOOOO squeezable, chunky and cute! We did some pics of him indoors and then headed over to the beach. Nolan definitely liked the beach better than being inside. This family is so gorgeous, I just LOVE taking their pics.
