san diego photographer | 9/52. . .boodawg

Somehow his nickname has become Boo or Boodawg over the years. Even his aunts and uncles call him Boo.  We also call him Bray-Bray and that has kind of stuck with our family and friends too.   He looks like a Boo to me and it makes me think of how sweet and generally kind-hearted he is.  This expression is totally him too.  He was deep in thought when I called his name and this face is just SO him!  He’s a lady killer and has lady killer hair to prove it. ;)   I can always hear the girls at school calling “BYE BRAYDEN! BYE BRAYDEN!” when I come to pick him up. I have a feeling I’m going to be one of those mom’s who has a bazillion girls calling to talk to him one day.

Yes, I know we are in week 8. . .I was a slacker last week on the project. BUT in my defense, I have been working my tail off painting and getting our new house ready to move into. So things have been a bit hectic to say the least!!! We are on the home stretch now and the new flooring is going in this week. YIPPEEEEE!!!!

In the midst of all of the chaos, my BABY boy is going to turn two this week. :( I have to say that I am pretty sad about this. We are done having kids and now I will never have another “baby” in the house. Instead my baby will turn into a 2 year old wild man. Granted, he’s been preparing me for that this last few months, but it still makes me sad that he will be two.

Here he is in all of his cuteness. . .leftover paint in his hair and all. I think we ruined 2 shirts, 2 pairs of pants, and 2 sweatshirts in the painting process! :)

3/52 – my boo

It has been rainy, windy, and cold here this week. Far cry from 80 degree weather just a couple of weeks ago. Needless to say, we haven’t been outside much so I wasn’t sure what to do for this week. I thought it would be fun to go out in the rain and stomp in puddles, but we don’t have any rain gear! We don’t really neeeeed rain gear here. I decided to get a head-shot of my cutie-patootie middle child; he is such a sweet boy with a good heart. He can be quite the stinker too so don’t let this sweet face fool you too much. Every night when he says his prayers, he asks God to help Madyson be good, hahahaha. :) He adores chocolate milk, tickles on his back, and playing the wii.

Ok time to go clean up the house and cook dinner. It looks like the wind storm came inside my house, picked all the toys up, and threw them up all over the living room. Good times. Peace out!

the destroyer in a big boy bed

Those of you who follow my blog, know I lovingly refer to my almost 2 year old as “The Destroyer”. He’s into EVERYTHING you could possibly imagine (and more!) and he LOVES to keep me up at night. So we decided he needed to go in the big boy bed and maybe, just maybe, that would fix all of his sleep issues.

First night he falls asleep swimmingly (isn’t that word awesome?!?!) without a ba-ba, which was another goal of ours. . .don’t judge. We are jumping up and down with excitement. But alas, 2:30 am comes much too quickly and he’s up and at ‘em with a VENGEANCE. Hysterical wailing. So instead of bringing him into our bed like usual. . .don’t judge, and after repeatedly attempting to lay him down and him not having any part of that, I sit lovingly (HA!) at his door. He flops down like a fish and after a looooooooooooooooooong 45 minutes, falls back into a sleep slumber. SWEEEEEEEEET!

I’ll try and shorten the story. The second night he wails at bedtime, wakes up twice in the night and makes me sit by his door for over an hour. Good times people, good times. I’m EXHAUSTED and kind of a not-so-nice person in the daytime (aka monster mom/wife). I was scared for what the third night would bring. BUT alas ladies and gentlemen, the destroyer (never one to be predictable), goes to sleep without a peep and sleeps allllllllllllllllll through the night. I woke up after 7.5 hours of sleep bouncing from the walls and singing “The Hills are alive with the sound of sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeping”. Yea, I don’t get me either.

I leave you with an image of my angel snuggled up like a bug in a rug with his favorite blankie and in his new big boy bed. Let’s hope tonight was as good as the last!
