san diego beach family photographer | overcoming obstacles

This GORGEOUS family came all the way from Washington to have their pictures taken on sunny San Diego’s beach with me. Only there was a problem. . .the sun was not to be seen this certain weekend. In fact, we were having a TON of rain.

Allison decided we would go ahead with the session since they traveled so far and she had put SO much thought and care into the whole thing. When we got to the beach it was COLD, but the rain stopped for us and there was even some breaks in the clouds. Her kids were AMAZINGLY good and so sweet and funny. I fell head over heels in love with all of them.

Unfortunately, we stumbled up one more big obstacle about 15 minutes into our session. While I was taking pictures of the two boys, Miss C decided to take a HUGE dip into the ocean from head to toe. Luckily, the people they were staying with lived super close and brought us a spare change of clothes for her. She never cried ONCE and was such a trooper, blue lips and all!!!! We even managed to get a ton more great shots and finish out the session. :)

Without further adieu!

san diego beach photographer | one year later

I had the great pleasure of doing baby Dane’s newborn pictures and now he is almost one year old! Here he is back when he was brand new. I can’t believe how fast time flies. It was amazing to see how much he’s grown and he is still just as adorable as ever. :) I know I say it all the time, but I get the most gorgeous families!!! And I have to brag just a little (sorry Kevin!), but Kevin is a very talented pitcher for the San Diego Padres. . .or so I’ve heard (I don’t follow sports very much if at all but I do love my Padres) ;) . Onto the pics!

This basket is becoming a must have for babies on the beach. Little Dane was anti-sand at first and loved hangin’ out in the basket.

san diego beach photographer | beach posing tips

Hey photographer’s! I had the opportunity to be a guest blogger again on Jodi/MCP Actions fabulous blog this week. I get asked a lot about posing people at the beach and I wrote down some posing suggestions so go check them out! :) 7 Rockin Beach Posing Tips

And a picture always makes a post more interesting, so I thought I’d share a pic I came across of my kids at the beach all actually looking at me. These days, it seems near impossible!!!! Granted they aren’t in portrait ready clothing (we were camping at the beach with some friends), but I will take it! Even if the youngest looks like he’s being tortured. ;)

This is more like what I normally get. . .don’t be jealous.

la jolla beach photographer | a dad and his boy

I just love love looooooooooove when my main focus of a session is to capture a relationship. This is what I adore about my job. A look into the spirit of this adorable 5 year old boy and his amazing dad. Stopped in time. It makes me emotional to capture relationships like this because THIS is what is important in life. A good friend of mine just lost her father, and it reminded me that our days are numbered. Enjoy each moment, focus on the important stuff, and hug your loved ones.

The spot where we took these pics is very special to this cutie-pie, Will, and his dad. They love to hike and hit the beach and I even joined them up to my waist in the water! Clothes can be washed anyway! :) I hope you enjoy these pictures!
